Round Corners - Tutorial

Open up your photo. Duplicate the background layer (CTRL+j). Fill the background layer with the color you want the frame to have. (I chose white)

Go to Image -> Canvas size: check the "relative" checkbox and type in something between 40 and 80, depending on how thick the frame should be. Hit ok.

It should look like this!

Click on the background copy layer (layer1/ebene1) & while holding the CTRL-key click on it again. This selects just the photo.

Go to the channel palette and hit the "Save selection as channel"-icon on the bottom of the palette. This creates a new alpha channel. Click on the alpha 1 channel, deselect everything (CTRL+D).

Go to Filters -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur and type in a radius, I used 10 pixel. The greater the value the rounder the frame will be. Hit ok.

Now bring up the Level-dialog box (CTRL+L) and move in the black & white sliders until the white feathered rectangle gets sharper and the corners get round. Hit ok.

Now CTRL-click the alpha channel or click on the little "Channel as selection"-icon on the bottom.

Click on the RGB-channel, then go back to the layers palette and click on the little "Add layermask"-icon on the bottom or go to Layer -> Add Layer mask -> Show selection.

That's it. :)
You can save all these steps in an action, so you don't have to do it all over again for each photo.
